Why we do what we do

As we start a new season, and welcome new Mafia members, we just thought it was important to reaffirm who we are and what it is we do here. 

Hi. We’re the Denver Bills Backers. We started this group to try to better embody what Bills Mafia is here in Denver. That means giving to charity, supporting each other like a family, and of course partying hard. We donated almost 10k to mostly local charities last year, and we hope to pass that number this year. 

To be more transparent we felt like it was important to register our group as a 501c3 (learn more here https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/exemption-requirements-501c3-organizations) , which we are officially. Sometimes we will do things that benefit the group, we are strict about telling you that is where your money is going if that’s the case. For you that is technically supporting a charity, for us it means that we have bank accounts and records to track and show where our money goes. Records we are happy to explain to anyone, anytime so feel free to ask if you’re concerned. That said there are operating costs, our founders have spent over $3,000 just this season, fronting items for the group. So funds we collect for the group are an effort to build a bank to do bigger things in the future. 

If money is going to charity we want to let you know that too. Each week when we donate money from the 50/50 we’ll post the receipt on our socials so you can see that’s where your money really goes. 

We hope it feels like a family when you come watch with us, and we hope to make you feel good about being a part of it. That’s all this ever was, finding a way to choose a family and turn our love for football and beer into something that actively does good, and that will always be our aim. So that’s it. Come party with us. Let’s drink some Blues, eat some wings and win some gosh dang football games.
