A Winter Wonderland and Pissing Off Pats Fan
Another week and another first half where the team didn’t show up. They were down 21-0, and just before the half we finally got on the board with a TD…… and immediately gave up a field goal. Down 24-7 at the half, things were looking bleak. Bills Mafia showed up in force to cheer with the Denver Bills Backers. With a packed bar and some very generous patrons, they decided donations = good karma! And it worked!!!! The Buffalo Bills came out of the half on fire, eventually taking the lead, only to give up a long TD run and the lead. At the end, Josh Allen, James Cookie and some amazing plays by defensive veterans (Tre White, Jordan Poyer and Joey Bosa), the Buffalo Bills won the game.
Now, if you were looking at Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, public figures and Pats fans were talking a crazy amount of trash while they were winning. Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports fame, had an amazing rant, breakdown and apology (trust me, search it!). More importantly than not letting the Patriots clinch the division, we moved 1 game closer to overtaking the Patriots.
This weeks charity was the Biker Down (https://bikerdown.org/). This organization helps bikers and families of motorcyclist who have been killed or injured. One of our longstanding members lost his son (Cameron) a few years back. We wanted to host this event to raise money in Cameron’s memory. I’d like to think Cameron would be proud. Another amazing longstanding patron won $675 in the 50/50 raffle, and donated $575 back to charity. Seeing this incredible act of kindness and love, several others decided to do direct donations as well. All told, we were able to raise $1300 for Biker Down, and will be donating it in memory of Cameron. The outpouring of love Bills Mafia and the Denver Bills Backers group continue to show every week is something I struggle to put into words.
For the season, we have raised just over $8000, and we are $321 away from matching our total from last season, which included 17 regular season and 2 playoff games. Our goal this year was always to donate over $10,000, but my personal goal is $12,000. Thank you again to all of you who have joined us, participated in the 50/50 raffle, and donated to our local community!
